Randoms

I am bummed I didnt get to see any little kids go run around and hunt for easter eggs this year. It is just not the same with the little kiddos..........

I am so happy about dinner.....Andrew and I recieved a split pea soup recipie from Elise Groves, and Im so stoked to eat it.......our house smells so good.

I cant wait to plant our seedlings into our flower box this weekend. Im also very excited to spruce up our garden and get cute little garden ornaments for it. PS. when I was 8 there was no way that I ever thought I would say that

I really hope my dear friend Stephanie is doing ok, after her husband an my good friend too left for Iraq today.

I think I am ready to buy myself a new camera.......kinda like the one that got stolen from my house.  I dont think I will cry this time If i go look at them at best buy.

I told andrew that I made a goal for myself, I want to teach myself how to knitt.  I passed the first step, buying yarn and knitting needles.

I love my puppies, they make me so happy. I love taking them for walks, and seeing them give me this look while out on a walk, like THANKS MOM!

I cant wait to come home! I also cant wait for Veronicas Wedding!

Im so over the wind here in Lubbock.......you cant even open your eyes when you go outside!

Tomorrow is Friday!

Andrew and I might have a foreign exchange student from Brazil come stay with us for 3 months! How cool would that be.....

Its gonna be in the 90s this weekend.

I feel so bad for all of those people in alabama........can you imagine. :(

All this Will and Kate hype has been really annoying.....but I think andrew and I might actually get up and watch the wedding in the morning.  It is history afterall.

Mom and Dad in Lubbock!

Well, I had been counting down the days until my parents arrived in Lubbock, Texas.

This was something I absolutely needed. I missed them so much, and was sooooo happy to have them here.  I enjoyed showing them the home that Andrew and I have created, sharing with them the love of our puppies, showing them our garden, meeting our friends, showing them the city that we now live in......although the city is hard to love.  They arrived on a Friday at1pm.  From there we went straight to Tech so that Andrew could show off his school/work/lab. I love watching him and listenting to him talk about what he does, you can just see with every cell in his body that he truly loves what he does and he is in the right spot to learn more about it.  Im pretty sure my parents got the same impression when he showed them everything.

From there we took them home, and started right away on making POTSTICKERS!  We had a handfull of our good friends over for dinner so my mom and dad could meet our friends, and made yummy potstickers for dinner. It was so great!

The next day, we woke up and went for a walk......:)

Then we drove my parents around the city, and showed them everything that they would hear us talk about on the phone. I also showed them my office.  :)

On Sunday we took them to the best breakfast place in Lubbock. Home Cafe. We had to wait in line for almost 45 minutes before we sat down.....so worth it though. :)

After our lovely brunch we relaxed for a bit, and then decided to go wine tasting to the one of two winerys here.  This one is called LLano Estacado.  It was actually pretty good.  The picture below shows the three of them deciding on what they wanted to taste.  It was pretty neat, the winery had a list of about 30 wines of which we got to pick out any 5 to taste. So im sure between the 4 of us, we all tried different things, so really we all had a taste of 20 wines. :)

This one was really really good, I usually like reds, but YUM!  We bought a bottle of this, a Merlot Reserve, and also another, but I cant remember what it was called. Maybe it was the too many tastes of wine we had :)

Here we are, so so so happy, I am so thankful that they were here and got to see our world for the time being.  I miss them so much, and can not wait to see them again!  Thanks Mom and Dad....LOVE YOU!

George, Reba and Lee Ann

Well, I just wrote this entire blog and then my computer decided to delete it :( ug.

Last month I had the opportunity to go see Lee Ann Womack open for Reba Mcentire who opened for George Strait.  And holy moly, it was really one of the best concerts I had ever been to.

First when I decided to buy the tickets, Andrew told me that he didnt really want to go......I was like...WHAT! This is a once in a lifetime, how could you not want to see Geroge??!?!?!  So I told him....ok, well that sucks for you but Im going anyway!  I ended up going with my wonderful friend Brittany!  Her boyfriend didnt want to go either, so Andrew and Justin went out for dinner, while we went to this amazing show.

Lee Ann has a truly amazing voice, she sang "I hope you dance" one of my favorites! And then Reba came out and stole the show. She was so much more exciting than I had expected.  I would recommend anyone to go see her show.  And well as for George, I dont really need to say much, I will remember it forever!

Basically the tickets were going going almost gone by the time the stupid ticket buying website let me in....and so Brittany and I's seats were about 3 rows from the top of the stadium, and we had to sit one in front of the other....did not stop us from being excited!

Lee Ann Womack

Reba! She was so awesome!

After her last song, of course she came back for an encore dressed in this, to sing FANCY! It was so great!

Here he is, King George!

Love his smile!

There we are, with.....George Strait behind us! Soooooo Happy!

Caprock Canyons Camping

Well.....heads up on the fact that this is a very heavy picture post. Andrew and I recently went camping at the Caprock Canyons State Park in Texas. Its about two hours away from Lubbock (where we live).  It was so beautiful.  To give you a tid bit of info, Lubbock sits on a caprock.......meaning that there is a large mountain that has a big flat top and sprawls for miles and miles.  We went camping in the canyon where the caprock falls off........or where the mountain finally slopes down.  It was so beautiful, especially to see something other than flatness!

Our campsites were great, no running water however......and no showers. But there was a chemical toilet (which means a port-o-poty) with a nice little wooden building built around it.

Let the pictures begin!

Its like they planned this, you look one way and Ill look the other.......

My little mountain lion......thought this was a funny picture

I cant help not showing them off!

The view was so pretty, I was actually not taking a picture of June here, but she was chasing a fly and just so happened to........jump in. :)

Me......putting up the tent....all by my lonesome. I have to admit Im an awesome tent putter-upper.

TA-DA! OK maybe I had a tad bit of help :)

Warming up my feet by the fire.........NOT!  Dont know if you have heard, but Texas is under a severe wildfire danger, and thousands of acres have burnned down already. So we were under a burn ban.....which was kinda crappy. But we still made it work.

Wet puppies.....just went swimming in the lake.

The pretty view

Apparently this state park housed the last wild herd of North American Texas Bison.  They are I guess a totally different genetic breed from others.  This was the bull herd......I thought it was kinda cool.

Sleeping cudling puppies!

The moon was insanely bright the first night we were there. It was beautiful but.....also was a tiny issue when it came to peeing in the bushes at night. So the bathrooms were like way too far away to make a trek to in the middle of the night, and squatting in a bush is no big deal for me, except for this moon was so bright that it seemed like someone turned the lights on.  Id crawl out of the tent to go pee......and it seemed like I was peeing out in the open and whoever was out of their tent would definitely be able to see me.  Oh well........I wasnt gonna go walk forever, when you gotta go....you gotta go. :)

Sitting around......not the campfire.......chit chatting before bed.

Um....My favorite camping activity! Drinkin a bloody mary while playing rummycube! If you cant tell I was kicking butt!

She just cracks me up!

This was actually on the drive to go camping.  and......i looked behind us to find this. June sits on tex all the time so I think he must have been getting her back.  This is right after June DIAREAHHED all over the back of andrews truck by the way....she had her rabies shot the day before and had some loose stools i guess you could say. And oh man a 2 hour drive smelling dog poop......that was so fun!

We had a great trip, and cant wait to go back. However Id like to explore a new place the next time we go camping.......where ever we go, im sure you'll find out about it too!

Garden Update!

Well, andrew and I have made leaps and bounds since the building of our garden box.  Weve grown our little baby seedlings......and its funny the feeling I get when I see those first leaves trying to pop out of the soil.

Here are our little seedlings.  Andrew and I sure had fun starting this, as shoveling the soil.....(which by the way is not DIRT, i get corrected by my husband every time I call it that.....as it is soil....not dirt!) out of his truck took us a good hour or so, and then mixing the soil with all the other nutrients was fun too, and a bit stinky.

Of course we first had to put the ground cover in........

Here is the truck full of soil,  I was in here barefooted pusing the soil toward the back so that andrew could get it into the wheel barrel..........it sure felt good on my toesies.

And.....its in and mixed! Like all of our seedlings?

Im so proud of the little guys!

This is called a Smart Pot......Its sort of like a big burlap pot, we thought it woul be perfect for our Zuchinni and Squash as they usually like to take up LOTS of space.

and......our dorky selves.
